We at Council of Sri Lankan Muslim Organisations UK (COSMOS UK) are saddened by the news of the passing of Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II. Our condolences and thoughts are with the King and Royal Family.
Throughout her long reign, Her Majesty the Queen has shown deep commitment, affection and admiration for her country, the Commonwealth, and the people across the world, as well as the ability to adapt and evolve with the changing world around her. Her Majesty the Queen was the rock on which modern Britain was built on.
Her Majesty The Queen has been a wonderful beacon of hope, integrity, stability and unity for our country and beyond and transformed the United Kingdom into a multicultural and multi-faith society. Her Majesty was the first monarch to engage with newly established Muslim communities here in the UK. The Queen was the first monarch to visit a UK mosque during her Jubilee celebrations in 2002.
All of us, of all faiths and none, will mourn the Her Majesty’s death, but remember the legacy of public service and celebrate her achievements.
Surely, we belong to God and to Him we return!
