Meeting Request in Seeking Support for the International Campaign to Stop ‘Forced Cremation ‘of Covid Bodies in Sri Lanka!

Dear HE High Commissioner,

COSMOS UK (Council of Sri Lankan Muslim Organisations UK), an umbrella organization of twenty-eight Sri Lankan Muslim Organizations based in UK, regret to bring to the attention on above subject and seeking international support and voice to bring justice to the affected Muslims and Christians in Sri Lanka by addressing this unacceptable and dreaded practice during Covid 19 Pandemic by Government of Sri Lanka. We kindly request Government of Pakistan being an important ally and friend of Sri Lanka to address this concerns with their counterpart.

We would like to meet you and Diplomatic staffs in this regard at your High Commission at your earliest to discussfurther on thissubject and seek Pakistan support on this matter at this difficult time for minority Muslims and Christians in Sri Lanka. Presently more than 100 Muslims bodies has been cremated along with a 20 days old Muslim baby boy in a forced cremation practice in Sri Lanka during the pandemic.

We expect and anticipate the support of your great country in voicing this issue and we only requesting a minimal Burial rights for our Muslims brothers and sisters in Sri Lanka who die due to Covid 19. More than 190 countries in the world allows the right of burial as per World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines and Sri Lanka is the only exception.

Awaiting a reply on this matter to discussfurther on thissubject. Please contact us should you require any other information. May Almighty guide all of us in the right path and bring an end to the world Covid 19 Pandemic sooner than later. Ameen.
